SATA HDD ATA PASSWORD UNLOCK
In this article you will learn how to remove
SATA HDD ATA password.
Requirements to remove password from a HDD:
- Ultimate boot cd
- Zu beta
- A USB or CD/DVD RW
Create a bootable drive:
First you need to create a bootable USB or CD/DVD(In
my case I am using a USB drive).
Steps to create bootable drive:
- To create Bootable Drive, download Rufus from here.
- After downloading, open program and select you usb drive.
- Locate Ultimate_Boot_CD.iso which you have downloaded.
- Click on start and wait for process to complete.
- After the process is complete extract zu_beta.zip folder and copy zu_beta.exe to root directory of USB drive.
BIOS
setting for the process:
For old
BIOS:
- Open BIOS menu.
- Open Drives menu.
- In SATA operations, select mode to legacy.
- Click apply and exit.
For new BIOS:
- Open BIOS.
- Open sata configuration.
- Set sata configuration mode to compatible and exit BIOS.
Steps to
remove password:
- Connect your password protected HDD and start your PC. PC will ask for password. Press ESC from keyboard and enter boot menu according to your PC. Select USB using arrow keys and your PC will boot into Ultimate Boot CD.
- In ultimate boot cd, open bios option
- Then open Keydisk
- Wait until it says 'press any key to continue'. Then press any key to proceed.
- A new window will open. Open launch menu.
- Open HDD device info and management
- Open ATAPWD (ATA HDD Password Unlocker)
- It will show your hdd detected in UBCD(ultimate boot cd).
- Press enter on HDD option.
- Select Erase prepare
- Press enter
- Press Ecs 4-5 times until it reaches black window.
- Type C:
- Type: dir zu*
- Type dir
- You will sea a list of commands
- Now type zu /p if your hdd is primary or zu /s if hdd is secondary.
- Your PC will show unlock done.
- Now your HDD is password free.

ReplyDeleteIntente hacerlo con Ventoy, pero no funcionó. Luego lo hice con el Rufus y todo funcionó, hay que hacer todos los pasos al pie de la letra. Agradezco a Z Tech por este tutorial, me sacó de problemas con un HDD que tenÃa ese detalle.
